Case Study: Ancient Apple Orchard Restoration (FiPL):
We recently completed a full-scale restoration of an ancient apple orchard for a local estate. Working under strict FiPL grant conditions, our team managed the project from start to finish:
Site Clearance:
Using our Valtra and Kobelco excavators equipped with mulchers, we cleared invasive vegetation to reveal the skeleton of the historic orchard.
Veteran Tree Surgery:
Our skilled arborists pruned and restored the veteran trees under specific tree surgery grants, extending the life of these heritage specimens.
The Full Circle:
Using our Heizohack chipper, we processed all arisings on-site. This chip wasn't hauled away; instead, we repurposed it as mulch around the newly planted trees to suppress weeds and retain moisture.
New Life:
We planted fresh stock and hand-built wooden guards to grant-spec, ensuring the orchard's future for the next century.
Hedgerow Restoration & Countryside Stewardship
For our large-scale arable clients, we specialise in Countryside Stewardship works. We recently completed several thousand meters of hedgerow restoration, including:
Coppicing & Bank Restoration:
We coppiced overgrown hedges and restored the traditional earth banks.
Replanting:
Our team replanted new hedgerows on top of these restored banks to create vital wildlife corridors.
Hedge Laying:
We provide traditional hedge laying to grant specifications, ensuring a dense, healthy boundary.
Zero Waste:
As always, all arisings were processed through our biomass woodchipper, ensuring a clean site and a repurposed end-product.
Carbon Capture & Commercial Woodland Support
We are proud to support large-scale carbon capture initiatives. For a recent 18-acre commercial woodland project, RG TREE SERVICES supplied and delivered several hundred cubic meters of our own woodchip.
Our team didn’t just drop the load; we neatly spread the chip around the base of the new saplings to give them the best possible start. We now provide ongoing maintenance to ensure the survival and health of the woodland as it grows to offset carbon for the future.
